Autumn term (part 2)

Training will resume at Shelley College on Wed 3rd November.

We will be training at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium on Wed 10th November, then back at Shelley College for the remainder of term.

Junior Parkrun Challenge 2021

This favourite club competition is back - suitable for junior members of all running abilities - it's just you against the clock.

For those who have not taken part before, all you have to do is register with parkrun (recording your club as Denby Dale AC) and remember to take your barcode with you. If you are already registered, please check that your profile states that you are a member of Denby Dale Athletics Club. This helps us check your times.

Depending on your preferred distance, juniors have a choice of :

  • attending the following 5K senior parkruns (9am on Saturday mornings):

  • 9th October Huddersfield

  • 23rd October Middleton Woods

  • 13th November Nostell

  • 27th November Thornes

  • 18th December Frickley Country Park

  • (the last four events coincide with DDAC senior parkrun challenge events)

Or alternatively,

  • attending Shelley 2K junior parkrun (9am on Sunday morning) on 10th & 24th Oct, 14th & 28th Nov & 19th Dec.

The scoring system is as follows:

  • Best 4 runs count

  • 10 Points for running

  • 10 Points for a PB

  • 5 Points for getting within 20 seconds of your PB

  • 5 Bonus Points for a spot position 1st, 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th,75th, 100th, 125th etc.

A new PB will automatically be set at your first challenge event. We will not be using previous parkrun PB’s. If a parkrun is cancelled due to bad weather it will be run the following week. The winners of the 2021 Junior Parkrun Challenge will be announced in the New Year.

DDAC Off-road Training - 10th February 2019

Juniors, parents and coaches enjoyed off road training at Hade Edge on a chilly morning. Lots of mud, hills, streams and stiles. Everyone worked really hard - even on the big steep hills! A great session with lots of positive attitude and good training for the club's junior Fell Championship.
