​BL category fell race over 14.3miles with 2431ft ascent

A classic winter route over difficult high-level moorland terrain with the potential for severe weather conditions make this a serious winter challenge.

​

Navigation skills required - GPS devices for navigation are not permitted.

​

Entries are non-refundable.

Transfers will be accepted up until 8pm on 30th January.

 

Race limit of 200 runners. Minimum age 18.

No dogs allowed with runners.

Car Parking

If you are coming by car, PLEASE car share - it's more fun, environmentally friendly and cost effective to share.

Limited parking in Langsett Barn & Langsett Flouch car parks, layby on A616 and local side roads. Please Park with consideration for residents and other visitors to the area. Do not park on the main road or in Ranger's spaces next to barn!

 

Toilets / Changing

Toilets at rear of barn. Limited changing adjacent to registration. Sorry, no showers. 

 

Equipment you MUST carry:

Waterproof full-body cover (with attached hood & taped seams), hat, gloves, map (Mickleden Straddle Race Map or OS OL1), compass, whistle, emergency food. This is the minimum requirement under FRA rules. Runners also recommended to consider carrying additional equipment (extra thermal layers, space blanket etc) in the event of severe weather conditions. 

 

A compulsory kit check will be carried out prior to registration. 

NO KIT - NO RUN. 

 

Race Cut Off Times

There will be a cut-off time of 1 hour (ie. 12 noon) at CP 1 - top of Cut Gate (GR 184959). This is to ensure safety of race marshals & helpers as well as runners in the event of severe weather.

 

Race retirements

If you are forced to retire during the race, you MUST return to Langsett Barn and inform Race Control. 

 

Prizes & presentation

Bottle of 'Rescue Ale' for all finishers. Post race refreshments and prize presentation at Langsett Barn.

Individual prizes for first three Men & Lady finishers and U23, Vet 40, Vet 50, Vet 60 & Vet 70 age categories for each sex. Also men's and ladies' team prize (best 3 runners).
